Stukjes glas – Francesca Confortini Terwijl je wacht op de vroege zomerzon, luister maar voor nieuwe single van de Italiaanse singer-songwriter Francesca Confortini; ‘Stukjes glas, aan de slag 1 mei 2024.
Haar nieuwe single is een unieke mix van zomerse hazepop, jazz en R&B. Geschreven door Francesca aan het einde van de Covid lockdowns, het lied viert vernieuwing en leven op dit moment. Het nummer is de derde release van de muzikant na ‘Light’ en ‘The Window’ en eerste leadtrack van het komende debuutalbum, gepland voor 2025.

“Pieces of Glass was written as a metaphor” says the singer; “it’s about duality and longing for the moment – where things go back to where they were meant to be. During the pandemic I tried to stay busy, focused, but inside felt pretty fragile. The possibilities in front of me felt like“pieces of glass”.
Born in Milan and having worked as a session musician throughout Europe, Confortini is based in London and focused on her own music which combines her passion for jazz with equally strong pop roots. “I was riding my Vespa home through traffic and stopped at a light in Kings Cross. I looked up and realised on that day here in the UK the clouds were literally flying past. Where I’m from in Italy the clouds
are not always so fast and so I wanted the song to convey that sense of pace: the structure is deliberately non-linear – the song stays in constant motion”.

New Summer Anthem For May Pieces of Glass – Francesca Confortini While you’re awaiting the early summer sun, listen out for new single from Italian singer-songwriter Francesca Confortini; ’Pieces of Glass, out on 1st May 2024.
Her new single is a unique blend of summer-haze pop, jazz and R&B. Written by Francesca at the tail end of the Covid lockdowns, the song celebrates renewal and living for the moment. The track is the musician’s 3rd release following ‘Light” and’ The Window ‘ and first lead track from forthcoming debut album scheduled for 2025.
The singer is quick to acknowledge her fellow musicians. “I owe everything to my bandmates” she says. “ I’m used to performing other people’s material, but that’s a different type of responsibility and my band mates, also close friends and amazing musicians themselves, have made it much easier to share my own songs. I’m grateful for their support”. When not busy working on her own debut album scheduled for 2025, Confortini performs across the UK and works as a session vocalist. Recent collaborations include LA-based pianist Brian
Clemens, a film score for The Peasants with Katie Melua, performances with London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra, Joe Stilgoe, Mozes Rosenberg, Paulus Schafer and
Korean artist Lim JungHyung. Highlights include London Jazz Festival, The Pheasantry and a stand out moment at London’s 606 Club performing in front of her entire family. “My family came over from Italy and it was very special sharing my songs with them for the first time. I’ve been singing professionally for 13 years and am used to the stage, but it’s incredible how performing your own songs in front of family feels like butterflies – I love that!” Pieces of Glass is available to download and stream on all digital platforms from 1st May 2024.
